Sonic Space of One’s Own: Damián Granda Martinto & Guest Participation of the Kwakowo Rural Housewives’ Association

Soon, we will set a table in Podgrodzie. This is an invitation to celebrate the increasingly rare moments of gathering and respite that many of us long for. In challenging times, difficult in different ways for each of us, we invite you to come together outdoors, surrounded by the greenery of our community garden and the herbs gathered by members of the Rural Housewives’ Association (KGW) in Kwakowo.

Our journey around the table will begin with a welcome from Angelo Celopazzo of the Dritti a Sud initiative, who has prepared for us a story about cultivated tomatoes from an entirely different perspective. Between the refreshments we have prepared and conversations about flavors, we will talk about recipes and food, but also much more than that.

What does cooking mean to us? Does food bring back a particular memory? Which flavors accompany us in everyday life, and which ones would we like to recreate? How do we imagine tastes we have never experienced? Cooking is about more than food. Who sits at the table, who cooks, and who serves? And, ultimately, who gets to speak, and who remains outside the table?

In our Nawzajem space, participants will also be able to take part in Sonic Space of One’s Own, a session led by Damián Granda Martinto, who has facilitated sound-based activities and recorded a variety of voices. What does our city sound like, at the table and beyond it?

Pronto instalaremos una mesa en Podgrodzie. Es una invitación a celebrar esos momentos de encuentro y descanso cada vez más escasos, momentos que la mayoría de nosotros añoramos. En tiempos difíciles, distintos para cada persona, les proponemos reunirnos al aire libre, entre la vegetación de nuestro jardín comunitario y las hierbas recolectadas por las integrantes de la Asociación de Mujeres Rurales (KGW) de Kwakowo.

Nuestro recorrido alrededor de la mesa comenzará con una bienvenida de Angelo Celopazzo, de la iniciativa Dritti a Sud, quien ha preparado para nosotros una historia sobre el cultivo de tomates vista desde una perspectiva totalmente diferente. Entre el refrigerio que hemos preparado y las conversaciones sobre sabores, hablaremos de recetas y de comida, pero también de mucho más.

¿Qué significa cocinar para nosotros? ¿Hay algún alimento que nos evoque un recuerdo concreto? ¿Qué sabores nos acompañan y cuáles nos gustaría recrear? ¿Cómo imaginamos sabores que nunca hemos probado? Cocinar no se trata solo de comida.
¿Quién se sienta a la mesa, quién cocina y quién sirve? Y, en última instancia, ¿quién puede tomar la palabra y quién permanece fuera de la mesa?

En nuestro espacio Nawzajem también podremos participar en la sesión Sonic Space of One’s Own (“Espacio Sonoro Propio”), dirigida por Damián Granda Martinto, quien ha desarrollado actividades relacionadas con el sonido y ha grabado diferentes voces. ¿Cómo suena nuestra ciudad, en la mesa y más allá de ella?
