BGSW YOUTH COUNCIL — Join Us!
The Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art invites young people aged 14–18 to take part in a new initiative: the BGSW Youth Council.
We’re looking for curious, open-minded individuals interested in art, ecology, culture, and the world around us—here in Słupsk, Ustka, and beyond.
About BGSW
The Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art operates across three sites in Słupsk and Ustka. We create a programme that brings together artists from around the world and our local audiences.
We value diversity, collaboration, and shared exploration of what art can be today. We present the work of artists from different regions and focus on themes such as ecology, migration, and equality.
As a cultural institution, we are committed to diversity, accessibility, and openness. We work closely with local communities, including people who have recently made Słupsk, Ustka, and surrounding areas their home.
Our proximity to the Baltic Sea shapes how we think about ourselves: as an institution in motion—responsive, flexible, and inviting collective action.
What is the Youth Council?
A group of young people who will help shape our work, learn how the institution operates, and take part in meetings with artists.
What does the Council do?
• learns how exhibitions are created—from the first idea to the final installation,
• meets the gallery team,
• visits exhibitions together in Słupsk and Ustka,
• has space to talk about art and explore how to present it to others.
How do we work?
Council meetings will take place once a month, usually shortly after new exhibition openings or during public events in BGSW spaces.
Participation in the project is free of charge.
Who can join?
We welcome students from primary and secondary schools in Słupsk, Ustka, and nearby areas.
You don’t need any prior knowledge about art—just curiosity and willingness to take part.
How to apply?
Send an application including:
• your name,
• age,
• school name,
• email address (or contact information for a parent/guardian),
• a short message—written, drawn, or recorded—telling us why you would like to join the Council.
Application deadline: 15 December 2025

Project Aim
We want young people to have a voice in shaping the gallery’s programme, to co-decide what matters to them, and to develop their interests through direct engagement with art.
We believe a public institution can be a shared space of dialogue, creativity, and exchange—regardless of age.
