Language Tandems: ¿Habla Español & Hablas Polaco?

At the beginning of June 2025, one of the spaces of the Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art transformed—almost for the entire summer season—into a neighbourhood hub: a place designed to bring people together. It has become an open, welcoming environment where anyone can simply drop in, spend time, or take part in gallery-organised activities such as film screenings, workshops, meetings, and other events.

The whole programme takes place under the banner EACH OTHER & MUTUALMENTE) and is co-created by artists, experts, and members of various communities, including those from Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela.

One of the activities gaining growing interest is our language tandems. This informal way of learning allows participants to explore the basics of Spanish and Polish through games, humour, and situational conversation — following the principle: “we learn from each other.”
The themes of each meeting are decided together, which means the vocabulary and expressions expand organically week by week. The goal is not perfection, but connection — and having fun.

The tandems take place twice a week, on Tuesdays and Sundays. Participation is free, and no registration is required.
