In his autobiographical work entitled The Notebooks of Malte-Laurids Brigge (1910), Rainer Maria Rilke writes: \u201cThere are multitudes of people, but there are many more faces, because each person has several of them. There are people who wear the same face for years; naturally it wears out, it gets dirty, it splits at the folds, it stretches, like gloves one has worn on a journey.\u201d The exhibition \u201cRefigurations\u201d perversely and intentionally refers to specific names, faces, realisation procedures and titles of painting series used in the artistic work of Krzysztof Nowicki, \u0141ukasz Patelczyk and Filip Wierzbicki-Nowak. At the same time, the exhibition is intended to present art that is not afraid of quotation or borrowing, and which fits seamlessly and lightly into the aesthetics of collage and the patchwork technique. As a result, the entire project is intended to consist of activities, works and artistic gestures by artists who, although not united by a common biography, share a sensitivity for aesthetic and semantic games. Krzysztof Nowicki<\/strong> was born in 1988; he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda\u0144sk in 2013 with a degree in painting in the studio of Professor Teresa Miszkin. He is the winner of the Grand Prix in the competition \u201cArtistic Journey of Hestia 2013\u201d (scholarship in New York), Grand Prix of the 3rd Pomeranian Art Triennale at the PGS in Sopot, honourable mention in the F. Eibisch Foundation competition. In 2021, he was nominated for the Strabag Kunstforum Artaward. In 2021, he received the Special Prize in the Kompas Young Art competition. He was nominated for the 12th Geppert Competition (BWA Wroc\u0142aw), the UAP Artistic Award \u201cNew Image\/New Look\u201d. In 2014, he participated in an artist residency at the Hong Kong Arts Centre. His works can be found in such collections as: the National Museum in Gda\u0144sk, Imago Mundi Luciano Benetton, the Artists’ Colony Foundation and in numerous collections in Poland and abroad. Currently, he is a doctoral student at the Doctoral School of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda\u0144sk. He lives and works in Gda\u0144sk.<\/p>

\u0141ukasz Patelczyk<\/strong> was born in 1986 in Wejherowo. In 2012, he defended his degree at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda\u0144sk in the studio of Professor Teresa Miszkin and the new media studio of Professor Witos\u0142aw Czerwonka. He is the winner of competitions: Artistic Journey of Hestia (special award), scholarship in Valencia in 2011, press award of the magazine \u201cNotes na 6 Tygodni\u201d in the Competition of the 42nd Painting Biennale \u201cBielska Jesie\u0144\u201d in 2015. He is a finalist in competitions such as the 11th Geppert Competition in 2013 and Perfectionists \u2013 1st Modessque International Painting Competition in 2013. In 2016, he was awarded the Cultural Scholarship of the City of Gda\u0144sk. His works can be found in the collection of the National Museum in Gda\u0144sk and in many collections, private in Poland and abroad. The artist lives and works in Warsaw and Bydgoszcz.<\/p>

Since 2016, he has been affiliated with his alma mater. He defended his doctorate in 2018. Currently an assistant professor in the 8th Drawing Studio at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Pozna\u0144.<\/p>
