Yukari Uto (born in1986, Japan) is an artist who makes mixed media artworks in which sound, video and body movement are combined, especially from the perspective of music.
She believes that visual information has some implicit structures in common with music. She extracts and puts them together to express visible things as sounds. When you see them you can get the same feeling as you listen to music.
Although you can say you feel sound through eyes when you imagine music from a score, her interest is in spontaneous and unavoidable feeling like visible things resonating directly in the mind.
“the city in white” is a video installation inspired by Ustka.
Yukari feels sounds when she touches something. When she runs a finger along an edge it comes out a long sound. When she claps ground it comes out an accented sound.
Ustka is white and it comes out brilliant sounds.
