Urszula Ślusarczyk is a professor at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. First of all she cultivates painting, but her areas of interest include drawing, printmaking and photography. In her creation she is guided by the assumption that life and the true art should be a unity. She tries to treat the search for order and harmony both in life and art as something natural. Her works are usually as if a result of the overlapping of two layers: a hidden geometry with its rhythm, and a more external layer which she tries to ‘exceed’, split or delaminate. The intention of her creation is oriented towards what’s as if timeless and the most elementary. She treats reduction as a result of experience, and not as the effect of the adopted convention or doctrine. An attempt at exceeding the false or true antinomies – what’s real and ‘abstractive’, material and spiritual, organic and geometrical, emotional and rational, and what’s connected with nature and culture – is the essence of her creation
