Samuel Forrest Stevens / Ustka Map / exhibition within the artist residence
Samuel Forrest Stevens
exhibition within the artist residence
What or, is the connection between experience and vision. What organ feels touch? the skin. What organ feels sound? the ears. What organ feels smell? the nose. In what organ exists the mind?
Announcing a new exhibition at the Centre for Creative Activities, USTKA MAP, is the exploration of a stranger in an everyday place. Books, maps and field guides, created during the artistic residence program, will be presented alongside an interactive map. The works explore the connection of the hand in drawing and writing, and the connection of our mental experience with a physical world. I want to expand the idea of beauty as a surprise in the world around us. I want to provoke care and sensitivity in observation.
Sam Stevens (b. 1994) is an American artist and designer. A 2016 graduate from the
Kansas City Art Institute, department of Painting, his drawings and installations explore
the boundary of functional forms and the cultures of fine art and craft.
