Paweł Matyszewski Next Day
Opening: September 26th, 2014, at 5.00 p.m.
Centre for Creative Activities, Ustka
The exhibition will be open till November 3th, 2014.
Paweł Matyszewski has organized five solo exhibitions and taken part in over twenty group exhibitions; moreover, he has been a scholarship holder and laureate of many prestigious contests. His first solo exhibition took place in 2008 at the Enter Gallery in Poznan. In 2010 the artist won the statue of Silver Spur at the all-Poland Young Painting Review PROMOTIONS organized by the Art Gallery in Legnica. As Izabela Kowalczyk writes, “…the phenomenon of Matyszewski consists in an unusual approach to pictures, since painting is his basic medium, although he creates also objects. He mixes genres and conventions; his pictures can be referred both to photography and handicraft (some of them can be treated as objects rather than paintings in traditional meaning of the word). In these pictures we can find concavities, convexities and sometimes other matter which can be quite different from what is usually used in painting (e.g. human hair)”.
