MAGDALENA STARSKA – Fuck Off, Bumpkin
entre for Creative Activities, Ustka,
January 8th – February 20th, 2015
Magdalena Starska is an author of drawings, performances and installation. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, getting the diploma from Prof. Jarosław Kozłowski studio in 2005. She is a member of the PENERSTWO group. Her basis for artistic activities is the idea of creating community situations. She is interested in how what’s personal and individual can be of quality in social sense. She lives and works in Poznan.
Magdalena Starska’s creation is based on the penetration of elementary phenomena and objects. Starska builds her works with materials taken from her closest surrounding, present at each house and common in the best meaning of the word. In the repertoire of her favourite material we can find cake, plaster or food, but Starska sculptures first of all from flowing, shimmering and reflecting light, as well as from touching, peeping, veiling, palpating, and also from messing around, stickiness, springiness, stretchablity and mobility. Before our very eyes the artist is building a theatre in which the main parts are played by the most banal objects, states of matter, and senses.
