The event will feature a film which will premiere during a solo exhibition at the Centre for Creative Activity in October 2018. Grzegorz has teamed up with DOP Tomasz Ziółkowski to work on a cinematic installation that deals with differences between film fiction and reality, and focuses on a vaguely defined border between them. Film takes place on the beach, which in itself acts as a stage for social behaviour and the boundary between culture and nature.
Grzegorz Stefański was born in 1983. He lives and works in London and Warsaw. He holds a degree from The Slade School of Fine Arts in London and the Laboratory of Spatial Activities run by Mirosław Bałka in the Department of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, as well as a degree in philosophy from the Jagiellonian University in Krakó. In 2017, he won the Ivan Juritz Prize in London and the Grand Prix at the Biennale of Young Art “Fish Eye 9” in Ustka. He debuted in 2010 with a solo exhibition at the Goldex-Poldex Cooperative during the Photomonth Festival in Kraków. Since then, he has presented his work at such prestigious venues as the Whitechapel Gallery in London (2018), Manifesta 11 in Zurich (2016), the Pastificio Cerere Foundation in Rome (2014) and at the NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1 in New York (2010).
